ZERO

Zero

Sometimes I feel like a zero – a big empty nothing. I make so many mistakes and am constantly wavering in my decisions and goals I want to do for Thee. Dear God, how can You use someone as frail as me?

You knew me when I really was but nothing Before I was conceived – before my parents knew me. You loved me knowing just who and what I would be. Enough to send Jesus to die on the cross for me.

The shape of a zero can be easily made onto a heart. The place You let love flow through and joy impart. And because You are the Saviour of my soul, You give me wonderful peace that makes me whole.

Yes, Dear God, You made the world out of nothing, Looked at it, then liked and blessed everything. And You tell me if I give my life over to Thee, You will make something special out of me!

Love Haiku

Hidden little notes
Help keep the romance alive
As the years go by.

During the years, my husband and I have done this. You never know where or when one of us will see a little love note tucked away or written on the edge of a page of a book, etc.
I also wrote love notes for my mother each trip I'd come home to visit. It does not have to be for romance! We need to let our loved ones know we think of them. Mom would tell me each one she found as the months would go by. Once, I only did one note. I forgot to do more. Later, she mentioned that she only found one. Oops, I confessed that was it. Now that I am home, I have not done it. I guess I should not quit, though.

Poetry

Poetry

Learning poetry is confusing
As I daily sit here musing.
Rhythm and rhymes,
Meter and lines,
I think it’s brain abusing!

(This poem was published in Housewife Writer's Forum spring 1995.)

I was trying to study poetry and learn it correctly. The more I studied the more I was confused. I had written poetry for years, just not with all the rules!

Emotional Perks

We all have our insecurities and quirks
So, instead of giving reprimands or smirks
Flash a smile of understanding
To each person in passing
And hand out emotional perks!

A Smile

Brightens days
Cheers others
Refreshes spirits
Lightens burdens
Gives joy
Pleases God

The first time I told our daughters we would write a 2-word poem, one of them said, "That should be easy! I just have to think of 2 words."

Homeschooling

Homeschooling is a great adventure
A challenge and a blessing, too.
Learning comes not just from books.
There are many areas to pursue.

Seeing first hand what happens
By going on field trips galore.
Learning by on-hand experience
When freely allowed to explore.

If children can learn without hurry
And can go at their own pace,
Nothing can quite compare
With the victorious look on each face.

Being taught self-discipline is the answer
In learning to write, to cipher, or to read.
Training them to have concern for others
And helping when there is a need.

Homeschooling is not for everyone
But, for the ones who were willing to try,
God has surely blessed our efforts
And talents we were willing to apply.
