Cinnamon Rolls

An Adams' family tradition, for this Adams family, at least, is cinnamon rolls for Christmas morning. I started that so we could eat them while opening gifts and have breakfast later. If we got around to having breakfast. Usually, Christmas dinner was ready early because I put the turkey in too soon.
Sometimes, they were home made and sometimes 'pop-can' ones, but we had them each Christmas morning. I am glad our daughters try to carry on the tradition. Traditions have to start somewhere, right?
... home made ones are rising right now. This year, we are spending Christmas Eve with my mom and Christmas Day with his family, so I made them today, so we can enjoy them and save some for Christmas morning, also.

Wow, I actually got ambitious to get them done! What are some traditions your family does for Christmas?

Dishwashing

Tonight, I was doing dishes after church. I rarely leave them dirty when I leave the house, but tonight had to be an exception. Toward the end, I noticed a pan that had food stuck on it and thought I’d have to soak it for a while. But, within a couple minutes it was ready to clean. It reminded me of when I was a kid at home and my sister and I would do dishes. There were nine of us so there were a lot and it would take us a long time because we argued and fussed while doing them. I don’t know why Mom let us get away with that being we were all in the same area of the house. Finally, we would get to the pots and beg Mom to let us leave them soaking. She agreed most of the time. Of course, she had to do them the next day while we were at school. After years of marriage and doing dishes, etc, I realized that if we had soaked them at the beginning of the dish washing time, we’d been able to clean them at the end. Why did Mom let us get away with that? I don’t know. I guess moms just do that.

Names

When our daughters were 1 and 3, our youngest called the older one, Who-Who instead of Crystal. The oldest one called the younger one Ra-rach instead of Rachael. We could understand Ra-rach, so much that it almost became a nickname, before we nipped it in the bud. But, we could not figure out Who-Who.
Years later, when they were teenagers and we lived in a two-story house, I stood on the first floor and called up to Crystal, “Crystal, Woohoo” (or however you spell that call we make) and then stopped in pause. Well, I guess that is where Who-Who had come from!

Sweet Memories

Sometimes when I sign in and use my email address, I hit the comma instead of the m for com. It always brings a smile to my face for I remember a friend of mine whom I was teaching computer. I had explained over the phone for her to type in .com and she could not get where she wanted to go and was frustrated. I went to her house to see what she was doing and she was typing in ., I had to refrain from smiling too much, for I thought it was so cute.
It is nice to have sweet memories of people to bring smiles to our faces. bja
